of Political Science, MA Graduation Information
Graduation Information:
In order for you to complete your degree requirements, there are several
steps that you must take. If you have not done so already:
- Complete Defending Student Status
form (if applicable), an
Application for Degree Card, and Schedule
Final Exam form. Return these forms to the Graduate School, and send
copies to the Graduate Coordinator, pscigrad@vt.edu.
Deadlines are posted
on the Graduate School web site.
- Check your Plan of Study, and
Grade History in HokieSpa.
Make sure your Plan of Study reflects grades for all courses you have
taken. If there are any grades that are not reflected in the Plan of
Study, complete a Change
in Plan of Study Form.
- If you transferred courses
into Virginia Tech, make sure there is an official copy of your
transcripts from the university the courses were transferred from in your
file at the Graduate School.
Transfer grades should be included in your Plan of Study.
- You must be registered for a
course during the semester you intend to defend in. This means that if you
are not registered for classes or thesis hours in the semester you defend,
then you must complete the
Defending Student Status form and submit it to the Graduate
School. If this is done within
the first 20 days of the semester, then you need only pay for one credit
hour. This hour must, however, be paid for before you can schedule your
final exam.
- Make sure you have filled out
and committee members have signed the ETD
Submission form, provide a signed copy for your file in the Political Science main office
(531 Major Williams Hall), and pay the ETD submission fee at the
Graduate
School.
